Mayors from the world's major cities met in Hong Kong Friday to discuss ways of tackling climate at the C40 Hong Kong Workshop.
The two-day workshop is part of the Climate Dialogue conference in Hong Kong.
Founded in 2005, the "C40" is a group of more than 40 large cities around the world committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions through a range of energy efficiency and clean energy programs.
Mayors from Toronto, New York and Johannesburg shared their experiences of trying to make their cities greener at the workshop, and mayors from the Chinese cities of Kunming, Shenzhen and Changsha talked about some of their low-carbon initiatives.
Toronto mayor David Miller on Saturday will hand over the chairmanship of the C40 to the New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg, who is also founder and majority owner of Bloomberg News parent Bloomberg LP.
